DS1 Line: Why you should consider one

When it comes to the DS1 Line, or otherwise known as a T1 Line, is just a medium through which a large amount of data that can be sent out internationally or in the US. While you as a regular person may not of heard about these types of lines, and if you are a technician, you are very much aware of them and what they're used for. The good news is that you can also benefit from a DS1 Line and in the paragraphs below, you'll learn more about this.

Bandwidth

In terms of DS1 Bandwidth (1.544/1.544 Mbps), you should know that a DS1 Line consists of 24 eight bit channels and each of these channels is actually a sixty four kilobit per second DS0 multiplexed carrier circuit. On the other hand, you should know that a DS1 is also a full duplex circuit and as a result, the circuit receives and transmits one thousand five hundred and forty four megabits per second concurrently. By sampling each of the 24 eight bit DS0s eight thousand times per second, a total of one thousand five hundred and thirty six Megabits per second of bandwidth is achieved (1.536 Mbps). This extra Bandwidth left over is known as an eight Kilobits per second (8 Kbps) sampling used for framing/overhead. (1.536Mbps + 8Kbps = 1.544 Mbps)

Alarms

Alarms are usually produced when the framing is compromised, by the receiving terminal. In total, there are 3 types of alarms, coded blue, yellow and red. For example, the blue alarm indicates a disruption in the communication path between the DCS and the terminal equipment, while the yellow alarm indicates a reception of data which reports the far end as being a red alarm. Lastly, the red alarm indicates that the alarming equipment cannot reliably recover the framing.

If you were put in the situation of having all of your company's employees using the same phone line that would be connected to the same server and they would also use the internet at the same time for chatting, then you know how ugly things can get. Fortunately, a DS1 is the best solution you can consider in this regard and it will truly improve your company's output as a whole.

With that in mind, it seems that DS1 Internet is your best choice if you want to ensure your company will gain access to a seamless internet connection and also have plenty of bandwidth to make calls at the same time.

DS1/T1 Summary:

There are infinite advantages of a DS1 line emphasizing on its special features like large Bandwidth and three different colored alarms for the more technically inclined. A DS1 is the best choice for a company that needs all of its employees to be connected to the same server; to make phone calls, and use the Internet all at the same time.

T1 lines are also used for residential applications for home or office use where cable Internet and DSL service cannot be provided due to the distance away from the Central Office (CO) or nearest Point of Presence (POP). One may consider a DS1/T1 for home use because there is no Fair Access Policy (FAP) like satellite Internet service. A T1 line is unlimited data usage. T1 lines have also come down in price making it more affordable for residential use.
